A Local's Guide to Massage in Sanger

Sanger clients are among the most schedule constrained group we see, and it comes down to shift work. Warehouse, packing house and agricultural hours do not fit a nine to five spa model, which is worth planning around.

Booking around shifts

If you work early shifts through harvest season, book late morning or early afternoon rather than immediately post shift. Your body handles bodywork better after a bit of downtime than it does straight off a twelve hour day. For rotating warehouse schedules, the day after is far more productive than the same evening.

What long shifts do to a body

  • Feet and calves that ache before the shift even ends
  • Low back compression from standing on concrete or bending in the rows
  • One sided tightness from repeated lifting or reaching
  • Neck and forearm strain from equipment and repetitive motion

Reflexology is underrated for this group, and deep tissue on the calves and glutes usually does more for foot pain than working the feet alone. Lighter Swedish work on the lower legs is the fastest relief for the heavy, tired feeling after a long shift in the heat.

The drive

Sanger to the studio is typically twenty to twenty five minutes. Take Jensen Avenue west to Clovis Avenue and it is a straight run. Highway 180 during afternoon peak is the one to avoid. Parking at our end is simple, which matters when you are already tired.

If your job keeps you upright for twelve hours, one hour horizontal is not a luxury. It is maintenance on the thing doing the work.

A realistic cadence

Every three weeks keeps most shift workers ahead of their symptoms. Monthly works if you are consistent with stretching. Waiting until something hurts enough to need fixing costs more sessions than staying on top of it.
